Dartboard was moldy and not self-healing as advertised
I purchased this dartboard to replace a very good, but very used one. When it arrived I pulled it out of the box and immediately smelled a musty odor. Not thinking too much about it I proceeded to install the board. I wanted to try it out so I threw some darts at it and noticed that the darts left significant sized holes in the board. I threw a few more thinking the holes would disappear but they never did. While throwing darts I my throat began to itch enough to get my attention. I looked down at my hands and noticed that I had a dry, powdery residue on my hands. I smelled it and it had the same musty smell as when I pulled the board out of the box. I smelled the board and it had the same smell only super strong. I now recognized the smell as mold. Thinking back the box did have that texture like it was soaking wet at one time then dried out. I'm thinking the board somehow got soaking wet in a warehouse somewhere, dried out, then later was processed for shipment. I was going to return the dartboard for a refund until I got to the point where it said I had pay for shipping. What? I have to pay for shipping for a moldy dartboard that I received? Being deployed in Afghanistan that would cost about half of what I paid for the thing. I decided to strip the board of its metal (cleanable) parts and repair the old one that I had. I can't really give a good review for the board itself because it was probably damaged from being water logged, causing the board to harden and lose its ability to "self-heal." I put the blame on the company selling the board. Something like this should have been caught in a quality assurance inspection.
