Why the short cord?
They sound great, especially for the price, but I have to agree with the other comments: Why the super-short, 3-foot cord between the two speakers? Would an extra couple of feet busted the budget? It's almost impossible to enjoy full stereo when the speakers can't even be placed at each end of a standard, 5-foot office desk.
