First off I’m am a Chef by profession, so this is my area and I do cook a lot in the house. Second; I do own a fare amount of Oxo and am a huge fan. For that it’s hard for me to say that this grinder is awful! It does not perform well at all as a grinder. It’s compact and easy to open but it does not produce a reasonable volume of pepper. So I guess if you are “pepper sensitive” or want to buy it as a gift for someone you hate, then this grinder is perfect. Otherwise shop around a bit more. I’m trying the Unicorn Grinder upon recommendation from my brother. I know I will be happier since a 3 dollar single use Mickormick grinder is better, trust me. Update- suffered through this piece of junk for a year and never improved no matter how I cleaned it or operated it, the grinder is useless. I purchased the Unicorn Magnum today. When it arrives I will write a performance review.
