I have this bird cooper feeder and a blue feeder hanging from the same shepherds hook and I noticed over time that the birds were always eating from the blue feeder but not this copper one. It puzzled me and bothered me because I think this bird feeder is so pretty, it gleams in the sun and it has a bigger perch area. I finally figured out that when it rains (and we've had a very rainy few weeks!) all the seed sitting in the well at the bottom gets soaked. I went to refill it the other day and all the seed was compacted into a damp brick. This a huge flaw in the design. Whenever it rains water just pools in the bottom and the moisture even spreads up into the seed above. The blue bird feeder just has openings that are level with the perch, there is no well for water to collect. I will stick with that sort if feeder in the future, this bird feeder is useless if it rains where you live.
