False Advertising (only 50% steel)
The pot I received (while stylish and, seemingly, well built) was only 50% steel (only the water reservoir was steel). This wouldn't have been so bad, had the advertisement for the product stated that. Nevertheless, the advertisement stated it was a stainless steel moka pot, which would imply that it was made entirely out of steel. Some time after my purchase (and my initial review, which is suspiciously missing now) I was contacted by someone claiming to be an employee of Amfocus. This employee told me that they did not have the ability to construct 100% steel pots (due to the high production costs associated with steel), and then went on to offer me money if I removed my review (which, I discovered today, is missing now). I sent copies of the messages to Amazon and never heard back from Amazon or Amfocus, so I will assume that the person who contacted me was an employee (in some capacity) at Amfocus (as I have no reason not to believe the contrary). To my surprise, today checked back on this moka pot (mainly out of curiosity if the advert had changed, or the seller had be ousted) and lo and behold the top reviews emphatically state that this moka pot is made out of steel. Seeing as how Amfocus attempted to bribe me, it could be safely assumed that some of these emphatic reviews are based in a bribery.
Just to reiterate, the pot I received was constructed well and was stylish. The only issue (albeit a large issue) was that the pot was 50% steel. Seeing as how the advertisement has not been modified to reflect the actual construction materials of the moka pot and all that has transpired since my purchase, one should seriously doubt the 5-star reviews of Amfocus and on their products.
