Fun game, but controls make it unplayable
Bought this game and ended up returning it. I figured I'd say that from the start. I loved the original arcade game and seeing this one on the market made me want to bum quarters off my mom again. Going through the initial screens brought back tons of memories. I picked Wolverine and got ready to kick some serious butt. That was where the problems came in. Controls were horrid. The action buttons work as expected, but the control pad does not. You can expect to be able to punch, kick, jump and use a special attack without any issues. Don't expect to be able to do things like walk or turn around though. If someone comes up on you from behind, you're gonna get punched a couple of times before you can figure out how to turn around. Once you do successfully clear out your 2-3 enemies, you'll have to walk to the next screen. Good luck doing that. The problem is that the control pad is about the size of a half dollar (on my 7" tablet). If you move your finger outside of that circle, it stops responding. There is no visual or haptic feedback to indicate you're close to the boundary so you have to watch your finger as it's very easy to move just a tad out of the half dollar circle. If you enjoy watching your immobile character get the back of his head slapped several times before you can turn around to deal with the threat, buy this game. The graphics are great. The sound is great. The levels are everything you remember. Two stars for all of that and the nostalgia factor. I take away three stars for the fact that the controls make the game completely unplayable.
