I purchased a 2 inch latex mattress topper (medium firm) because my mattress was too firm, sleeping on my back produced pain in the lumbar region the next day and the method of minimizing pain by sleeping on one or the other shoulder was beginning required frequent turning. The mattress protector was a great disappointment. by the end of the first night sleeping on my backit resulted in marked sagging at my hips; instead of lying in a straignt line, I ended up in a wide U-shape and the discomfort was worse than with my firm mattress. Sleeping on my side was not as bad, but still worse than on the mattress with out the topper. Amazingly, the topper regained it's orginal shape during the day. The effects got worse as I continued to use if for 7 days. I returned it without any hassle and received my entire payment back. My experience with the topper was not good, perhaps I was too heavy for the topper (175 pounds on a medium firm topper),but the service from Amazon was superb. I think purchasing through Amazon is the only way to "try out" mattress and mattress toppers. I investigated fhese at half a dozen retail shops before ordering from.Amazon. None would let you lie on the toppers, and on mattresses, only for a few minutes, a completely short time to evaluate them. In addition, only one would allow you to return the mattress (charging 15% for the return).
