and he does it a lot better than they do
If you didn't register your $100 New York Fahgettaboudit lock within 15 days of purchase (according to the insert; or 30 days according to the website), you might as well throw it in the trash. When (not "if") your bike is stolen in broad daylight on a busy street, Kryptonite will tell you "We're sorry to hear that; but we can't honor our guarantee because you have the wrong date on your registration." It shouldn't matter to Kryptonite what date I registered the lock on. What should matter is the catastrophic failure of their top-rated ulock in a safe neighborhood with the sun shining. Not once in any of the three conversations I've had with their "Customer Experience" department, including the Customer Experience Manager, did they even admit that their lock failed. Two people told me "Nothing is indestructible. If someone wants your bike, they're going to get it." Way to stand behind your product. I'm more upset with Kryptonite than I am with the guy who stole my bike. He was just doing his job, and he does it a lot better than they do.
