Worked OK for more than a year until glass door shattered during normal food warming operation. See attached photo. Other customers have experienced this defect, as described on the GE Appliances web page titled MICROWAVE OVEN DOOR GLASS BREAKAGE. An appliance mounted at eye level that spews glass fragments is clearly hazardous. A GE Appliances consumer support rep arranged a no-cost replacement of the door because the defect is safety-related. Interesting sidelight: GE's part price of the replacement door assembly is $417 not including labor. A recent sale price of the complete microwave oven by a major home hardware chain was $178. GE boasts about its "six sigma" quality objective, meaning no more than 3.4 defects per million. However, in 2016 GE sold its home appliance division to Qingdao Haier Co, a Chinese manufacturer that continues to sell products with the GE label. Apparently six sigma quality was not part of the sale. .
