There is a lot to love about this system. It looks like my first stereo, circa 1979. The wood is attractive and it's rock solid. The speakers sound really good in a bedroom (I'm sure even better after some burn-in). The layout of the remote is intuitive, and it works no matter which way you point it. Pairing Bluetooth is easy. And when you turn on the sleep timer, it automatically dims the display - how thoughtful is that? I could go on. BUT the record player is too fast. It sounds distorted, "off," and I've verified this by simultaneously playing a song on it (yes, on the 33 1/3 rpm setting) and digitally on my phone: on a roughly 5 minute song, the record player will finish about 15-20 seconds faster. And there is no way to fine-tune the speed, according to TEAC's support people (who, to their credit, were nice). Thanks to Amazon, my replacement unit arrived a few days later - and it has the exact same problem. With this brand name, and at this price, I'm stunned. I'm going to try a repair shop before I return it, because I desperately want this to work, but after two problem units in a row, I can't recommend it to anyone else. UPDATE: I took it into a TEAC-authorized repair center. They were stumped, so they contacted TEAC, who told them to send it back to the company. A couple of weeks later, it arrived back in their shop - the same unit, and no note or any other evidence of a repair. And guess what? The turntable is still too fast, just like before. An added bonus? I got to spend $25 on shipping it back to TEAC, only to have them do nothing. I thought about keeping the system, removing the record player & cover, and sitting a better quality turntable on top of it. But not after this experience.
