Lock will be un-removable if you lock one arm and not the other. I thought this impossible myself until I was on a crowded rack. I had to lock the lock without seeing if both arms were in the lock when turning the key (blind lockup). It locked with one arm in the lock, but I could not disengage the lock afterwards, the key was stuck in the lock and the lock stayed locked. If you decide to purchase this lock be careful to put the U in the lock, both ends, and be able to visibly see it is positioned in the lock when you lock the bike up. If one end of the U is in and not the other on a blind lock up extreme unhappiness will ensue.
