I bought two of these books for my granddaughters (ages 6 & 8) - so that as we go on family vacations they can learn about the state we're visiting. I was very impressed with the pictures, the consistency of information from state to state, and how each state has its own page. Of course I turned to the page for our state first - Illinois. The interesting fact for Illinois is this: "Chicago, the third largest city in the United States, boasts the tallest building in the world, the 110 story Sears Tower." Probably both of my granddaughters, but definitely the older one, KNOWS that this is NOT true! Sears Tower is no longer called Sears Tower, last I heard it was Willis Tower. AND it is NOT the tallest building in the world! I quickly flipped to the beginning to see when the coloring books were printed the COPYRIGHT IS 1998!!!! There is a "Manufacturing" date of 2015, but apparently nothing was updated. The information is 18 years old! I am really torn, because the book is lovely, but I don't have the time to double-check the info in the book to see if it is current, and I don't want my granddaughters thinking they learned something exciting and then sharing that info only to be told they are WRONG! If there was a comment in the description listing that the info in the book was 18 years old, I don't believe I would have bought them. Of course I wasn't expecting it to be that old either and maybe I missed it. JUST BEWARE PURCHASERS - THIS IS OUTDATED INFO. I've been looking for something like this for a while and I'm very disappointed.
