I have this machine and love the quilt in the hoop feature, well made hoops and feet --- but there my like for it ends. It is one picky piece of machinery. I am a computer savy person but this machine is picky to beat the band. Yes, I have figured out how to go around many of its "quirks" but I don't like the fact that I have to use so many work arounds and the machine is not intuitive at all. The bobbins are painted with silver paint and if the paint wears off the bobbin must be replaced. I would only recommend this machine for a person who likes to fiddle and has lots of time. I do not have the time or the inclination. I am keeping it because of the quilt in the hoop and other things and because I can't sell it for enough money to justify giving up some of the quilting features. I have seen people do beautiful quilt in the hoop that rivals the best long arm but that is because it is NOT threaded for embroidery in the bobbin area. The embroidery is in my opinion lacking and the bobbin system that requires a dental mirror to learn to thread it SUCKS. However I have bought an Ellisimo Gold to do most of my sewing. This machine can't read Anita Goodesign patterns easily due to its operating system. Best I have heard is copy in DST and do without the proper color charts. If you copy into exp it hops and does running stitches between colors. No way will I tolerate that. I haven't had the problems many have because I have a great dealer and got the LE, but I really don't like this machine for being picky and not user friendly. I would not recommend it for that reason. I will personally never buy another Bernina machine again. Priced higher than most with less features on the lower end and on top end buggy updates, poor design that requires many work arounds. I sew for fun, not to be bothered with this sort of stupidity. Those that love these machines are rabid about them and usually attack if you tell the truth -- but I believe tell the truth and shame the devil. If someone wants to put up with this and knows in advance and still wants the machine fine -- those of us who got it and found this out later wish we could get our money back.
