I bought this oatmeal maker in April, and loved it so much that I bought one for my daughter for her birthday. I used the oatmeal maker about once a week for both steel cut oats and regular oats for 7 months before the heating element no longer worked. I called the customer service number for Hamilton Beach and stayed on hold for an hour (estimated wait time said 28 minutes) before leaving my number for a callback. I also sent an email to Hamilton Beach. I never received a callback or a reply to my email. I still would love to have a replacement for this appliance, as I thoroughly enjoyed using it, but am really disappojnted at the lack of response from the company, UPDATE: Only after posting this negative review did I receive any response from Hamilton Beach by email (the next day, so I don’t think it’s a coincidence). The email requested the specific problem with my oatmeal maker, which was clearly stated in my original email. However, I did respond by restating my issue. After a couple of weeks, I got a response saying that my oatmeal maker was, indeed, under warranty, and that instead of sending it back, I should cut the cord off and send a photo of the back of the appliance. I did so, and got a response saying that I would need to pay $11.49 shipping charges (about half the cost of a replacement from Amazon!). After thinking it over for a few days, I did pay the shipping charges, which were charged to my account on January 15th. It is now February 12th, and I still do not have either the appliance or any communication that it was shipped. After being told this morning that the average wait time for Consumer Affairs was 16 minutes, I have now been on hold for 41 minutes. Hamilton Beach makes some nice products, and there are a couple I would like to buy for the apartment I am setting up, but unfortunately.....Hamilton Beach customer service is the WORST, so I will not be doing so.
