I had gotten a Zmodo cam years ago and loved it. It was easy to setup, software was simple to use, quality was good for what I wanted, and it just worked. Jump to today and this product. First off, I am going to assume that setup of this product really depends on who your ISP is and your router. Zmodo, just like Neato and many other companies, don't use web protocols that are friendly. For example, my router thinks that communication from Zmodo is an intruder trying to hijack my network. My ISP also thinks that too. So I have currently spent over 26 hours of time with support from ISP and Zmodo and Internet blogs and videos to get this working. I had to tweek the heck out of my router to get it working. So, now it's working...kind of. Let me go over my list. Quality I am actually very happy with the video quality. The refresh and frame rate are good for what I need. So, in regards to my expectations, I would give this 5 stars. Setup You already read my angst with setup. I give it a 1 star. My neighbor has Nest Cam and same ISP / router; basically a plug and play experience for them. Recording and Storage This works as expected and is really cool. I give this 5 star. I have no trouble reviewing saved video. Camera Customization I am assuming there are still issues with the setup nightmare I went through which are causing options on the cameras to either 1) Not appear in the app or web control 2) No take when I change a setting or 3) Not work at all. My biggest gripe is that I keep trying to adjust the motion sensor area, but it never saves even though I save it and it seems to take....initially. So, since the cameras are super sensitive, when a cat is cleaning themselves in the room, you hear constant clicking that sounds like rapid fire clicking. This leads me to setting Home, Away, etc. It flat out doesn't work. Even though it shows that I have it set to Home right now, it is only operating in the default Away settings. Alerts work and don't work. They randomly work per rules I created...and I mean randomly; sadly not very often either. Micro USB Power This is frustrating as anything because the power cord that comes with it is too short to mount the camera higher on a wall. So, now I am stuck buying power cables from 3rd party that are long enough. Overall, I am sure this is a great product, and I am still giving it a chance in hopes I can get it working. But I think this might be a lost cause and I'll probably return it. I wish I had the great experience everyone else has mostly had. The worst part is I cannot use a different router, since the ISP requires it. Zmodo support pretty much is horrible, so I will either solve this myself or give up. Sorry for all of the negativity...when bits and pieces of it work, they work really well...but I need 100% of it working 100% of the time.
