The formula has changed. For the worse.
⚠️—-Edit—- 2/15/20 The ingredient list is STILL incorrect on every listing I have found. STILL. OK SO UNILEVER CONFIRMED THAT THEY HAVE CHANGED THE FORMULA. The bottle is also different. 🚫This a major problem however, because the only real change is now : original version had the additional benefits of Niacinamide panthenol chamomile extract vitamin c in the middle of the ingredients list. Now, they have lowered the quantities of the aforementioned ingredients to less than 1 percent of the entire formula. The preservative makes up no more than 1 percent. Original version we had the skincare goodies listed well before the preservative. New version: Same formula but they decided to add less of the good ingredients to save money. There is literally no other explanation as to why they changed it. To save money. I would have rather they just charge more for the good product it was. Now it’s just like all the rest and I’m annoyed with how the company hasn’t changed anything regarding the product advertised. I can’t even find the copy of the new version ingredients. I posted a picture of the new ingredients list + new bottle. Even their website as of October 9th 2019 advertises the wrong product. Many emails include my inquiry and yet I’ve received a myriad of different responses. Some reps were completely unaware of a change. Some just said “we use only the safest ingredients” and one had the audacity to tell me to look on their website to find the ingredient list; although it is not accurate. Not one person would just send me the new ingredient list or acknowledged the change. The reformulated - bottle shows green 🍃 leaves instead of the green circle. The green circle was the original. There is not supposed to be a safety seal on the bottles, they are not sold with it in stores, so that is normal. To the person that claims their bottle was counterfeit- it is not counterfeit, it’s the original micellar water bottle along with the new version. Simple will not acknowledge the change. To me, this adds on to the already disappointing cheapening of the product; their lack of transparency is off putting. IMPORTANT: this will NOT REMOVE A LOT OF MAKEUP !! It’s NOT INTENDED TO BE A CLEANSER REPLACEMENT. If you end up not liking it, there’s other uses besides just throwing it away to waste. One could use the water to wipe dirt off their legs and feet during summertime, for example. ———— End edit————- I LOVE MICELLAR WATER!! I use it in a spray bottle. I don’t wear heavy makeup, and this is not ideal for removing heavy / waterproof makeup. Unfortunately, the top reviewers misunderstood the use for this and automatically gave it a horrible review. Simple micellar cleanser has zero fragrance, which is ideal for a facial product. Also, many cleansing waters are so bland; little to no antioxidants/extracts, etc. What makes this one stand out from the rest is the inclusion of skin beneficial ingredients, such as: -Chamomile extract - Panthenol -Niacinamide -Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (stable form of vitamin C) It seems counterintuitive to have these ingredients in a formula meant to be wiped right off. However, somehow these absolutely provide a noticeable difference for my skin. I can’t use any type of moisturizer, my skin is just naturally SO OILY. It’s nice not needing a moisturizer, but I would like to apply these skin repairing, cell communicating, soothing ingredients in some way. Swiping my face with this cleansing water is a way for me to do so without causing clogged pores. For the makeup removing properties (the actual purpose of a cleansing water) I must say it’s not great with waterproof eyemakup. I have not found any cleansing water that can flawlessly take off my eye makeup like my lancom Bifacial remover in the blue bottle. After I use this it to remove my eyemakup, I just wipe away the oily residue left behind from the lancom remover with this water. It does remove light face makeup for me, as well as the usual dirt/grime at the end of the day. My skin has cleared up significantly. I use a BHA salicylic acid exfoliating liquid afterwards. They work so well together. The Simple water visibly soothes blemish redness and calms the angry acne skin feeling. I have purchased countless bottles of this micellar water, and I have been using it for years ever since I first saw it at Walgreens. I have ZERO affiliation with ANY brand, and I buy simple micellar water all the time. This topic interests me, which makes it enjoyable to write a thorough review for anyone interested.
