It's not Psyllium
I took these for years because it was the cheapest way to buy psyllium capsules on Amazon, but lately I began to realize that it didn't seem like they were helping my digestion at all. I tried using some name-brand Metamucil (unflavored coarse ground) powder, and noticed a big difference on my digestion. So I did a test: I put an equivalent weight of Metamucil powder and the powder from these capsules in two glasses of water and let them sit.
The Metamucil water formed a layer of globby gel at the bottom of the glass, as expected. The stuff inside these capsules? No gel whatsoever, just some clumped up powder. Whatever they are, they're not psyllium. It's a scam.
A video is attached.
Note: since metamucil is expensive and has added sugar, I currently use NOW brand Psyllium Husk Powder, which can be bought in bulk and passes the gel test. I think most brands are probably fine... just not this one.
