This review is for the Blu-ray only, not the film itself which is a five-star animated classic in my book. I've waited most of my adult life for this, one of my favorite animated films of all-time, to finally drop on Blu-ray (WHAT THE HECK TOOK DREAMWORKS SO LONG??). It arrived in the mail today, and the minute it arrived I excitedly popped it into my Blu-ray player and...instant sadness. I'm sad to say it looks just like the old DVD transfer with all its ugly flaws (banding, dust specks all over the transfer, no depth/pop to the image, etc) , simply upscaled to 1080. Clearly zero effort was made to restore the image and give it a Blu-ray worthy presentation. What a total disappointment and letdown, after having waited so long. Universal/Dreamworks was clearly just trying to crap out a buck here. I guess the plain stock-image cover should have been a warning for what's inside. Lovers of the film will be sad.
