Cheap version of Lahara with integral design defect -- 15 year plumbing pro
Cheap version of the Lahara with an integral design defect. There is a cross washer used to thread the spout on to the sink deck. When the supplied tool is used to tighten the nut, the cross washer spins and gauges the integral 1/4 PEX inside the spout. I barely had to begin explaining this to the Delta phone CSR and she knew exactly what I was talking about. They don't make a replacement spout so if this happens to you you have to buy a new faucet. They call it an installer error and do not cover it. My guess is that this happens on each install except most installers won't notice it. Delta likely thinks it's okay because the portion of gauged PEX is not directly under pressure and so could not flood out a home. I have installed 100s of Delta 8" widespreads over the last 15 years and this is a new low for Delta.
The only way I can see to keep the cross washer form spinning is to undertighten the spout or know of the problem in advance and hold the cross washer in place with a needle nose pliers.
