I have chronic neck and ear pain and require a high quality pillow for my sleeping comfort. After saying goodbye to my $150 latex dreamy pillow (that was discontinued by the company), I've been on a constant search for a comfortable, lofty, puffy, yet supportive pillow to rock me to sleep. After reading the product description and reviews of this pillow, I was excited to give it a try. I waited a solid 4 months before reviewing this pillow as immediate reviews don't provide readers with enough information. I've used this pillow solidly for the past 4 months. When it first arrived, I was excited about the quality and feel of the pillow. It has a nice, soft outer covering with a squishy yet firm memory-foam feel. The bamboo case matches the one I have on my bed that has been a dream to sleep on. I gave it a solid day to "puff out" and was excited to put it to use. For the first week, it was wonderful. I loved the way my head sunk into the pillow and how it supported my neck with an exact fit. It didn't get hot and sweaty and maintained the perfect temperature throughout the night. After that first week, however, it became extremely dense and hurt my ears to sleep on it. I re-read the directions and threw it in the dryer to puff it up again. Ahhh, nice and soft again. But within about 5-6 days, it had lost its loft and was as hard as a rock again. UGH. Our master bedroom is on the 2nd floor of our house and our washer/dryer is 2 floors down on the basement level. I trudged down again and threw it in the dryer. It refilled and was puffy again. This was my cycle for months...until I just gave up from sheer exhaustion. This is my first try at a memory foam pillow, so maybe they're just not for me. I'm confused, though, because the reviews and product description seem to describe the exact pillow I've been looking for. While it does deliver on many higher quality levels, the high maintenance to maintain those levels just isn't worth my time and effort. I would send it back to the company but I'm not disappointed with the filler level - it was perfect for me at first. What I'm disappointed in is how quickly the inside filler loses its function. I'm honestly surprised at all the rave reviews - this pillow just didn't match up in performance to other expensive pillows I've purchased.
