Bring back the old recipe! This is no longer PREMIUM hot cocoa.
Yet another fine product falls to the relentless pressure to maintain nominal shelf price through cutting quality. It's bad enough that the Federal Reserve has undermined my retirement, but their wrecking my hot cocoa is unforgivable. Stop your quantitative sleazing of my beloved grocery items.
OLD INGREDIENTS (purchased 1 Jan 2013 at local supermarket, no longer available as of Aug 2013): Sweet ground chocolate & cocoa (sugar, cocoa - processed with alkali, unsweetened chocolate, soy lecithin - an emulsifier, vanilla).
NEW INGREDIENTS (see label above): Sugar, creamer (coconut oil, corn syrup solids, sodium caseinate, mono and diglycerides, dipotassium phosphate, silicon dioxide), cocoa processed with alkali, nonfat dry milk, sweet dairy whey, guar gum, natural and artificial flavor, salt, silicon dioxide.
Ghirardelli, your competitors already fill the shelves with repulsive processed oils, industrial sweeteners and preserved dairy derivatives. Must you degrade your formulas? You've marred a flavor my family loves, introduced milk allergens one of my family cannot tolerate, and turned a real treat into a fake food that I won't serve to those I love. Go back to producing a product you can be proud of. We'll love you for it.
