Buyer beware
This review is for the Vinyl album. I find it quite disingenuous to lump the CD, MP3, and vinyl reviews all in together because it gives the average review a much higher score than it should have for vinyl, and a lower score than is warranted for a perfect recording, as I'm assuming the MP3 and CD provide. Point is, this pressing is terrible, as all other reviews under the vinyl tab will tell you. Side A is perfectly clear with no skips, but side B skips nearly constantly. Misty Mountain Hop is the worst with 13 skips (!!), followed by Four Sticks clocking in at 4, and Going to California and When the Levee Breaks tied at 2 apiece. This is not my first copy of the album either, the first being worse with what looked like part of the label being reprinted over the grooves. I sent it back, knowing that the second copy might not be any better, and was surprised temporarily at what looked like clean vinyl. This is where the 22 B side skips come in, however. Just because it looks clean doesn't mean anything. I'm fairly certain that the manufacturer pressed thousands of these records like this and is simply trying to offload them, so expect your first purchase to be heavily disfigured, and the return copy to look slightly better. I could keep sending this in for replacement/refund, but at this point it seems like there might not be a single normal pressing in the lot. So, buy it if you like the A side tracks, don't care about replacing it multiple times to get something that doesn't skip constantly, or just want the album as wall art.
