Yes, these towels are ultra soft as claimed. Only because, unfortunately, they are saturated with chemical softeners that took many washings (8-10) to remove (and when you wash, DO NOT use ANY softener of any kind!). (I'm a chemist and laundry authority and know whereof I speak). Until the softeners were finally down to a reasonable level, these were NOT properly absorbent towels as one would expect. While they initially managed to barely dry me off after a shower, they wouldn't even dry a hard surface without just smearing the water. These are also claimed to be "crisp" as well as highly absorbent. Crisp they're not, even after a dozen washings. Maybe after two dozen? One or more reviewers mentioned excessive linting when first washed. Fortunately, after noting that observation I washed these alone the first time around. There was WAY more lint than I've ever seen before from other towels. No huge problem as long as you don't throw new towels in with other items, or you'd probably have to rewash. If they'd leave out the softeners altogether, these would have been much better towels and I would have given them 4 stars.
