So I bought this because I thought it would be easier to use for my large 2 year old than carrying her bulky convertible carseat on the plane. We used it on a recent 5 hour domestic flight. It is definitely easy to put this on the seat and to use it, however it has a MAJOR FLAW that clearly the designers didn't think about. It does not have any kind of strap down between the child's legs. So, typical toddlers who throw temper tantrums do so by throwing their arms up in the air, kicking and screaming, and sliding down in a seat/wiggling downwards. So, my kid decided she didn't want her seat belt on, so she did exactly that...and since there is no strap between the legs holding the kid in place (like a normal 5 point harness on a carseat has), she repeatedly slid down and out of the harness or else slid down and got the upper part tangled around her neck and screamed even louder and more angrily. I don't think anyone on the airplane appreciated this. Also, yes, when the kid is sitting upright like a miniature adult on the airplane seat, the harness is great. However, very few kids sit like that. And on a long flight what you WANT your kid to do is to fall asleep, however this harness holds the child in such an uncomfortable upright position in the middle of the seat that they can't even lean on the armrest or on the side wall of the plane or anything, so the poor kid is forced to stay away which in turn produces more temper tantrums and trying to slide down and out of the harness as described earlier. I'll just say that on our return flight on the trip I carried my toddler's huge bulky awkward convertible carseat onto the plane and put her in her carseat and was SUPER GLAD that I did that instead of using the ridiculous harness again. In case you're wondering, she settled down cozily in her comfy carseat that she is used to riding in and she immediately fell asleep and slept the entire 5 hour flight home. I will NEVER AGAIN use this ridiculous harness. She will be in her convertible huge carseat on airplanes until she grows out of it. IT IS WORTH THE HASSLE TO CARRY THE CARSEAT ON THE PLANE IF YOUR TODDLER IS ANYTHING LIKE MY TODDLER.
