Warning possible fire hazard
The coffee maker worked o.k. It seemed to not be quite hot enough..and the brew strength questionable in it's efficency. Here's the scary problem. The Auto shut-off failed twice. What is really bad is the light went out (so you'd think it was off) but 5 hours later the coffee was hot and the brewing process was still active... steaming. I wonder if this is a recalled item or an isolated incident. After it happened twice we unplugged it and were afraid to use it. Has anyone else had this problem? The coffee maker was probably only used about a dozen times before the problem occured. I'll return it. The water level indicator is small and hard to use, keep that in mind if you still decide to take a chance.
Update 01/14/13
Returned Item to Hamilton Beach and they quickly sent me a new one . To return to them they need your invoice and 1 inch of the plug. Much easier than than sending the whole pot etc... New model seems ok after 2 days use. I think it's important to let the manufacturer know when a problem occured like the one I had. You'll need to call their customer service first, of course.I'll update this as my use increases...
