A good looking hollow shell of it's former self
I've been playing GT ever since I saw a demo running in a Toys R Us back in 1997. I was blown away by it and I've been in love with this series ever since. There have been a little bit of variance as far as the quality of each title released, sometimes things seem a little rushed and not as polished as they should be but the games had their charm. The idea of buying a used Honda Prelude and working through races and tuning it up was so addicting.
With this most recent release PD (the developers of the game) has basically decided to ditch anything single player from the game to focus on E-sports and online play. Gone are all of the old single player career mode races. Nothing is left of single player except some driving school missions. If you have the unfortunate problem where your internet is down or if the GT servers are down, this game is 99% unplayable. You cannot access your save game so even if you play some arcade modes NOTHING is saved. You can't access your collection of cars or anything. It's AWFUL. I got home from a long day of work last night to play some GT and guess what, the servers weren't accessible so I couldn't access my cars or do anything with the game. I could play an arcade race but not access my cars or save game. Isn't that wonderful? What a joke.
The game looks amazing and plays just as well as the last few GT games but the massive decrease in car count (it's about 150 maybe but it seriously feels like 50 cars.. lots of race cars and a super low amount of everyday street cars which is what drew me into GT in the first place..), the axing of the single player content and locking the whole game behind the online servers with no ability to play offline has turned me off big time to GT. I'll be trading this game in soon and I'll never play a game in this series again after this. Awful game.
