I hope you get a chance to read this from under the avalanche of five and four star ratings. I'm a verified buyer, who just put this thing to the test for a project that involved stapling hardware cloth to soft wood. Out of all the tools used for my project, this was the one tool that consistently failed and caused more grief and more wasted time. It just does not consistently work. It is a staple waster. It misfires. Either it splats the staple into an ugly mess, or you don't get a staple at all. Also, The wire "latch" that holds the handle when not in use initially accounted for a large percentage of of staple misfire and waste. It's a flimsy wire that inevitably rotates upward and obstructs the handle during operation (if you buy this stapler, take it off and throw it away). Also, It's close to impossible to get an accurate staple. The stapler alignment notch just isn't sufficient for lining up the stapler. Also, The stapler supply latch that holds the staple rail plunger in place is like a jack-in-the-box. It randomly jettisons the plunger and the staples, which you won't discover until you try to use it and nothing happens. Then you realize that the plunger and staples are not there (now retrace your steps and try to find it). Also, the rubber cushion in the handle will come loose and fall out. But you probably need this, so don't throw it away. Just spend some time putting it back together (and remember how you put it back together for the next time it happens). There are spurts when this thing will surprisingly work fine--that is, it will do what it's supposed to do--but inevitably it will fail when you need it to work. I don't think I've never given a product a one star rating. Now I have a benchmark for what a one-star product is like. If you need a stapler, I would suggest looking at an Arrow.
