Warning: Doormat heroine and emotionally stunted male
Ugh. Spoilers abound, beware. The heroine is a total doormat. Please, I thought we had done away with heroines who get walked all over and then beg for more scraps from a man they are supposedly in love with, but who treats them like doo doo. I love second chance romances but this one is hogwash. After a six month fling which she “mistakes” for a relationship, he pretends to cheat on her so that she’ll break up with him and eventually come back to him without any expectations of a real relationship. (Insert huge eye roll) While he’s “waiting” for her to come back to him, he’s out banging strange. She, of course, is a nun with a boyfriend who she isn’t banging - stop the insanity of the virginal heroine and playboy unfeeling man whore - you are a better author than this! I don’t want to read this and I’m upset that I did - although I skimmed that last half - did I mention it goes on for forever? Finally, the last straw - there is NO groveling. None. Never once does he apologize, beg forgiveness, wallow, for the doo doo he put her through. The grand gesture? Lol, not that big or that grand. She deserves every ugly piece of him. If you like a heroine that lets the hero walk all over them and emotionally abuse them, sign right up for this nonsense.
