I bought this based on reviews and the sensor. I also really wanted to add a park mode to my brand new truck. The more time I use this the less impressed I am. Despite using the recommended Sandisk high endurance card I have to format the card frequently to keep from having unit errors (I'm on my third card, two sandisk, one lexar, all 64gb high endurance). The unit often does not turn on when the vehicle turns on - the proposed solutions seem to be not using park mode (a whole reason I bought it) or not powering it through the GPS base - how either of those is an ideal solution is beyond me. With the GPS sensor set to low if you hit a bump in the interstate the unit will beep and display a flashing ! and cease recording for several seconds. the point of one of these things is to be a black box. I don't want to have to remember to turn it on (which consists of unplugging it, counting to ten and plugging it back in) OR disable parking mode so the G sensor works properly. In the city I specifically want the G sensor to work so I can see people who park by feel on my new bumpers. It is really unnerving to be driving along, glance at it and realize that it is frozen and hasn't been recording for the last who knows how long. to top it off, I have parking mode activated and last night my wife's car was broken into. no probelm I think, I've got my truck pointed right at it, we have this fool on camera, hooray!....nope. not a single clip from the night was recorded by the motion detector. yay! what an investment. For the same $ go buy a rexing. if that one doesn't work the company will send you a new one right away and you have a unit that works. I run two forward only rexings, one front/rear and this thing.....should have never thought the grass was greener on the other side and stayed with the rexing. Update 5-25-19 Ive abandoned the gps base and dont use park mode because the combination of the two casue most of my problems. I have taken another star away today because yesterday 2.5 hours into a road trip i witnessed a rollover accident. I thought id offer footage but wait! Cant so that because the stupid thing has powered down and isnt recording. Today while shopping someone dinged my front bumper on my brand new truck. Do i have footage of that? Of course not because parking mode doesnt ever work. Hooray Viofo, thanks for being there when i really need you! Its a shame i cant write the profanity laced review this product really deserves.
