Money Making Opportunity for Amazon, that's all....
Pros: First, Thank you Amazon for 500 coins. My wife is enjoying the free stuff. IF Amazon were to allow you to EARN coins for purchases etc. That would be great, free money is always good. Cons: This is just another scam like giving rebates via debit/credit card or getting people to purchase gift cards. Many people don't ever use gift cards, so free money to the store that got the proceeds. Secondly, with these coins it is just like giving rebates using a debit/credit card. There is this thing in the industry called "breakage" this is when someone receives a debit card for a rebate for $10, they go purchase something for $9.75 and never use the remaining $0.25 (if you are smart you will split a purchase and use remaining balance in cash, but you can't do that with Amazon coins see below). This might sound like a small amount but multiply it by thousands and it gets to be some real money! You can only use them for apps, not books or other items on Amazon. They are non-refundable. Amazon reserves the right to terminate the program at anytime, with no indication that you would receive a refund for money invested. Apparently you cannot mix cash and coin, so if you don't have enough coins for a purchase you must purchase more coins in bulk (see breakage above) I love Amazon, but this is not a wise move unless they use it as I indicated above to reward customer loyalty, by awarding coins for purchases etc.
