This vacuum works only on my one huge area rug.I will say that it does normal rugs well. I am not even able to vacuum my two 8x4 mud rugs with it without going back and forth over the same area over and over chasing all of the little pebbles the stupid roller brush spits out around the room. On bare floors its even worse. It has no ability to pick up fine dirt (not enough suction) unless you add the bare floor pad to it, and then to be quite honest your basically swiffering anyway which I would rather do than vacumm the same area over and over hoping it will finally pick the stuff up. It does not pick up dog hair. I really don't understand why there are so many good reviews. I have owned this for 6 months now and hate it more every time I use it.
