Worst home security product and even worse customer service
I pre-ordered Ring home security system and had high hope on the product initially.
The contact sensor failed after a little over one month of installation. It went offline unexpectedly all of sudden. After hours of trouble-shooting with the Ring help desk over the phone, they insisted that the problem can be solve by resetting the sensor. This involves: removing the battery, pressing the small black reset button inside of the sensor, putting battery back in, and the technical team in Ring deploying some simple maneuver remotely. The process had to be repeated several time and eventually they claimed that it was fixed!
But not for long! Within a week, the sensor failed again! Yet another several hours of trouble-shooting over the phone and ruling out all the possibilities, it was obvious that the sensor is faulty. Still the company was reluctant to send a replacement citing that they were recently purchased by Amazon and they need to watch their finance closely. Why not just try the same things again and hope the problem will disappear magically.
Only after my repeated requests, they finally agreed to send a replacement sensor, under one condition that I need to give them my credit card information to make sure that I will send the fault one back. Who on earth will waste hours of their life just to get a "free" $20 contact sensor?! But I did whatever they asked nevertheless.
Almost 3 weeks has passed, I received nothing and no one responded to my email inquiry either!
If you are looking for a reliable and continuously monitoring home security system that can give you peace of mind, look elsewhere! If you are looking for a service that will give you 24x7 technical support, look elsewhere! Incidents happen, day or night, weekdays or weeknights. But Ring help desk is only there during regular hours. Even when they are there working, it is not the customer or their mission statement that they value first. If you already bought into their service, pray that it never goes bad, because if it does, you are completely out of luck!
