Long time Whistle user, time to say goodbye
I have been using the Whistle 3 for over a year now and relying on it daily. Once in a while you get a bad location but not very often. Recently it was lost so I upgraded to the Whistle Go Explorer. The major pro is longer battery life and ability to pick up a weaker cell signal. The con is it does not work well at all and support is terrible (For Whistle to track support #528637). For some reason this Whistle keeps bouncing between telling me my dog is home and actual location. Whistle support confirmed full AT&T signal and I am 1/2 mile away from home in an open field. I have walked the same field for a year with the Whistle 3 and never a problem. I requested a substitute Whistle Go suggesting it was defective and got crickets. I just bought a Fi Collar and ran a test with both on my dog at the same time. Fi worked great and no false location reports. I have sent copies of my iPhone screen to Whistle to show them they are having a problem. The Fi even alerted me 6 minutes earlier that my dog was out of the yard. Maybe I have a bad unit or more probable they have firmware bugs. If you buy anything get the Whistle 3 until they figure it out. I offered to test another unit along side the Fi collar if they want to send me one but this one is within the 30 days of Amazon and is being returned as defective. Whistle you have lost a customer. I will update this review later after I fully test the Fi Collar. I have an off-leash Husky that likes to run so need a good tracker. I use Dogtra when hiking in the mountains which is RF based and good for a few miles but battery life is only a day but better than nothing when no cell towers.
