Welp, it's been slowly dying
UPDATE (Month #10): Unfortunately, my 5-star rating on this toaster proved to be very false! The toaster started out working fabulously, but after a few months, it slowly started dying. First I had to turn up the heat setting to get a good brown piece of toast. And then I had to really turn it up; now it's at the maximum setting, and I've been reduced to re-toasting the bread several times to get it to work. This morning I looked at the coils when I popped in a piece of bread and started to toast it -- entire sections of the wires were NOT even red. No wonder the bread wasn't toasting in certain sections! We are down to the ends getting burnt and the vast swath across the middle of the bread being warm and not even brown. Sigh. Bought a new toaster today, different brand. Orig review shortly after purchase (call this Month #1): Over the years I've had a number of different toasters, and I'm always rather shocked at how expensive some toasters are, whether in a store or online. I got this toaster based on the reviews (5-star and 1-star) and the price point. I think it's a really good value for the money. It works just as well as other toasters I've had (including Oster, Hamilton Beach, etc) but at a much more reasonable cost. I prefer toasters with two long slots (four-slice models) that enable me to put in large bread slices like sourdough or artisanal breads. I haven't needed to use the warming rack yet, but I like having that feature should I need it. The toaster has cooked my breads and English muffins uniformly, and I like the Cancel/Eject button if I want to pop something out early. Hopefully this toaster lasts for a very long time!
