The tabs underneath (which secure the clothes line) have both cracked and have broken off. Shortly after purchasing these, the tabs started to crack and parts broke off. After 18 months of use, the tabs have broken off so badly that the entire mechanism is no longer useful. This is clearly as design flaw in what should be (could be) a very useful device. I cannot recommend it until this flaw is repaired Follow-up: I came up with a solution to repair it. My wife says it works better than the original. I used two washers (1/1/4" and 1" dia.), two screws and some epoxy. Works quite well and should last. Pictures attached.
