Depressing love child of harry potter and the hunger games
Some people will love this book. I personally didn't enjoy Novik writing urban fantasy as much as her straight fantasies like Spinning Silver. Too much high school bitchyness and too few moments of liking the heroine, who is by turns grouchy, angry, and insanely powerful yet never seems to have to pay for her antisocial actions while hating on her Marty Stu totally-not-a-love-interest.
