Audacity, thy name is Rielle Hunter, John Edwards, and Andrew Young
I have also read Young's book. What's interesting to me is that like Young's book, Hunter's is probably truthful for the most part...until you come to the person's motives. These two actually corroborate each others stories down to the details...almost. But then each of them want you to think they were these honest, put upon martyrs, instead of willing, scheming participants in a plan where they were all looking for financial gain and fame. They are all detestable, not only the Youngs but Hunter and Edwards as well.
First and foremost-Hunter CONSTANTLY tells you what John was 'thinking' to justify what she did. Sorry, but YOU telling everyone how awful and abusive Elizabeth was is hearsay. Unless John comes out and says it himself you have no right to speak for him. And let's just say it's true, and she was awful to him and everyone. Who cares?? Does Hunter think it makes her a nice person to follow a married man around the country and beyond, sneaking around, hiding in closets and spending his money? As a mother-how would she feel if a man treats her daughter that way someday? And please-she could say their marriage was 'a sham' for 20+ years...but then why did John have invitro with Elizabeth? Why did he stay with her BEFORE he ran for president? There was no reason John HAD to stay with Elizabeth, though Hunter spends the entire book trying to convince us he had no choice. Sorry, don't buy it. That makes him even more of a scum bag, to have been running around cheating for 20 years. Again, it is not Hunter's place to reveal that information. This was written to serve her daughter? In what way? To learn her mother is sneaky and deceitful, and her father was a complete dirtbag?
How would Edwards like it if one of his 3 daughters were treated this way? So to me, Hunter has just made herself go from bad to worse by bashing Elizabeth. Not only is it hearsay, but it's irrelevant. It doesn't make John a nice person for cheating, and it doesn't make Hunter a nice person for sneaking around and withdrawing money from his ATM. What a bunch of losers. Hunter, Edwards, and the Young's all deserve each other. I feel sorry for all these kids, scary to think people of such low moral character are shaping impressionable minds. God help us all.
