DO NOT GET THIS MODEL. Ok after watching infomercials and watching Costco how-tos as a kid I was so excited to save up for my first vita mix. THE ultimate blender right?! For context I worked for 4 years making smoothie bowls in a restaurant with other vitamix models and it was the best and they worked great. This one blows. Starting with the new lid. The hard plastic makes it tricky to align the lid properly in order to create a seal and is tricky to clean. If you don’t align it just right everything will explode onto the counter. The older rubber lid was way better. Also, the new wand that it comes with the cheapest plastic. Not the same quality as the old version. Next, do not get distracted by the fancy buttons. The pulse button takes a good amount of pressure and the on and off button is touchy. The dial for the speed is nice but no big deal. The screen is clear and fancy which looks nice. Now the power, the blade will stop anytime it senses air. Just will continue to run the engine but the blade will not go so you constantly have to turn the machine on and off. I make several smoothies and though people say the larger container doesn’t work well with smaller amounts, I found it to be true with no matter what amount I used. That being said once you add a lot more water the consistency will be very smooth. BUT that makes it so I can never make a thick smoothie bowl. Very disappointed in this new model. I would say don’t be fooled by the flashy finish like I did and get an older version. I’ve had it now for three months and only decided to keep it because I got a good discount on prime day and I like the long warranty.
