Out of the box, I updated the speaker software. This update causes the unit to turn on randomly. Posts on the Bose Community page show that many people have experienced the same problem and Bose engineers have not resolved this bad software issue. Clearly, the new software is meant to serve people who use two of these expensive speakers in tandem. The bug in the software causes one speaker to randomly turn on when the base device Bluetooth is turned on. The sound of my Soundlink Bluetooth Speaker 3 is superior to this speaker. The previous Soundlink 3 (discontinued) has better sound - stereo. I'm just going back to using the previous model, which essentially plays fine anyway. I returned this disappointing speaker.
