The Boldest Lies Ever Told
I was VERY skeptical about buying this, but took a chance because of all the guarantees of 0 interference from the company itself that are printed directly on the box. Well, it turns out that this actually interferes with EVERYTHING on the 2.4Ghz spectrum. Cell phones, microwaves, and the worst of all...a wireless internet connection. Everything causes interference with the audio signal, which causes the sound to either sound horrible, "crackly," and at times just vanish completely. The deal breaker for me was that it slowed my 20Mbps internet connection down to less-than-dial-up speeds. It got so bad that at times I completely lost my wireless connection. That being said, I had two options: 1) Buy a wireless-N router that operates on the 5.6Ghz spectrum (which would also require me to upgrade every wireless connection in my home to avoid interference on the 2.4Ghz spectrume) 2) Return this item and get a different wireless audio system that operates at 5.6Ghz. I went with option 2. Granted, both solutions were very pricey, but I ended up with a unit made by Amphony. Difficult to find, but I did manage to find a discontinued model on their website for under $100. It works just fine with almost no interference at all. Occasionally, you here a little buzz when a wireless connection is first established near a speaker, but that initial buzz is it. The biggest issue I have is that the receiver shuts off after about 5 minutes of no sound and when it receives the audio signal, it makes a loud popping sound. It's annoying, but I got used to it. I can deal with it if it means I don't have run wires through my living room.
