Not Much New here. Burning ROM hasn't changed. Recode looks different but still suffers from lack of good BluRay support.
We use Nero for two things, to create DVD's and to Recode Media to other formats. Nero Burning Rom has been our standard CD/DVD creator for years; no obvious changes here and it still does not support Blu-ray. Nero Recode has a nice interface but Blu-ray support is far from complete. I would call it basic at most and encourage the use of other less-expensive software packages that are much better equipped to handle the latest technology. This user has purchased all of the Nero upgrades through the years. After the 2010 release and a new Windows 7 install, I never found a need to change especially since many internet Articles actually discouraged it. On our new Win 8.1 machine, we decided to install the latest 2015 version. What a disappointment that was. I want to like the new interface and all the options it presents but it has to work clearly and easily. After spending three hours with this software I still cannot convert a Blu-ray disk directly to DVD-5 media. It seems to require two to three steps and a lot of extra time to accomplish what could be so easily done. Looking at the Nero Company through the years, this 2015 version is nothing but another "feed-me" ploy where the company promises lots of new features that are useless while failing to bring us new features that would actually be practical and helpful. Then to top things off, their "free" media pack crashes on install. Somehow it doesn't like the C++ runtime library on my computer and exits before installing the promised content. This is just another epic fail of this software. I had to find and install the C++ package from Microsoft and install it manually before the add-on would work. There is absolutely no excuse for this and if it is out of Nero's hands, they should have been all over this before they allowed me to download and install this content. Frustrated, I uninstalled the 2015 version and went back to my tried and true 2010 version of this software. Frankly, other than the variances in how to do the same thing, there is no compelling reason to upgrade. If you already own this product, save your money and pass. This company does not deserve to be fed anything. Instead try out some of the cheaper packages. They actually work and for a lot less money.
