Key specs for those of you looking at the price
Context: My friend showed me this tv after I was set on buying the Samsung UN55HU7250. I'm looking to future-proof my TV purchase without breaking the bank.
While this television does technically support 4K, the color depth is 8 bit and the chroma sampling is 4 : 2 : 0 when displaying that resolution. This may explain why LG calls its HDMI port "HDMI 4K @ 60hz" instead of HDMI 2.0.
You can find this information in the manual on page 23 on LG's website for this product.
Seems like LG is really blurring HDMI 2.0 support. I asked an online rep if LG supports HDMI 2.0 and they also said that LG currently doesn't support it.
The specs for Samsung are much more detailed and while they also don't explicitly state they support HDMI 2.0, their 4K resolution supports 4:4:4 chroma sampling. So I'm sticking to the Samsung.
