Will Start Beeping, Cannot Be Silenced
This model of Weather Radio, WR120, has a flaw which will affect people living in an area that gets daily thunderstorms (such as central Florida). The flaw is this: the radio will start beeping when it does not receive the NOAA weekly test alert for two weeks. The only way to stop the beeping is to unplug the radio and take out the batteries. You then have to re-program it all over again.
NOAA normally broadcasts a weekly test alert every Wednesday, however NOAA does not broadcast this test alert if there are thunderstorms or other weather in the area, since they don't want the test alert to be mistaken for a real alert. In parts of the country, it is not unusual to have thunderstorms every afternoon for a couple of months, and in this case NOOA won't broadcast the test alerts. That will cause this model of radio to start beeping.
You can get other Weather Radios that simply display a "Check Reception" text when they don't receive the weekly test alerts.
