You can't just assume that your audience has read you entire catalog of work
I couldn't get into it. I couldn't forge a connection to the story or it's characters. The beginning of the book reads as if it's a continuation of another book which at first seemed weird since it's book #1 in its series. After checking the author's GR page, I discovered that it is I spin off of a previous series. Nonetheless as an author you can't just assume that your audience has read you entire catalog of work, and not properly introduce them to the characters and the settings with a brief history or recap. You can't just assume your audience will understand your acronyms/initials, make all the necessary connections between characters, and magical know your characters history. The more I read the more frustrated I became and then I realized its Friday night and the last thing I need is frustration.
