I bought two of these to replace the builder installed toilets in my home. I've owned the original Toto Ultramax (1.6gpf) toilets in another home for about ten years, and have always loved them. I hated these toilets for three reasons: 1. They are too tall. It is like sitting on a barstool while trying to go to the bathroom. A comfortable toilet will place you in a slight squat. These do just the opposite. Toto calls these "ADA Height" or "comfort height." I cannot speak to whether they comply with the ADA, but it is most definitely NOT comfortable. The original Ultramax is the lower, normal height and much for comfortable. 2. It has a crummy fill valve. Apparently, Toto started using a Chinese made fill valve on some of their toilets. The valve has a green top and a screw on the top. The problem with these valves is that they tend to break after a short period of time. Also, after they fill the tank, they close so quickly that they tend to hammer your pipes. Do a google search for "pipe hammer" for more details. If you call Toto during your warranty period, they'll send you a replacement valve (blue top, no screw on the top) that is made in the U.S.A. that doesn't hammer and lasts much longer, but you'll have to install it yourself or hire a plumber to do it. If you call after the warranty is over, you'll have to pay for the replacement part also. It costs around $20.00. You can also purchase an anti-hammer device and attach it between the wall and the toilet. 3. Its too shallow up front. This can be a problem for men. I ultimately went back to the original Toto Ultramax (1.6gpf).
