Easy to open without key
Unfortunately, these locks are easy to open without use of the key and bike thieves know about it. I recently had my rear wheel stolen while using Pinhead skewers. After asking at local bike shops, I've discovered that they can be opened with a universal socket such as the product from Gator Grip <...>
Update on Aug 2013:
I received a set of washers from Pinhead to use to prevent the locks from so easily being opened. With the washers I was unable to get the locks off with the Gator Grips. But I imagine that someone can still get these off with some effort. I live in Oakland and park my bike at the West Oakland Bart station. Needless to say, it is a high crime area. I will still lock both wheels with a u lock even with the pinhead locks and the new washers. I think that these will work well if you are in a low crime area or are leaving it locked up for a short period of time.
