Buyer beware: Dewalt 3 year warranty is a scam, it is left to the discretion of the repair technician to determine whether to honor the warranty or not. I sent my 20 volt max sawzall (reciprocating saw} to their repair center in Baltimore , MD. I got a call from a lady telling me that the tool is over one year old ( it couldn't be more that 12 ½ or 13 months old) and they will not honor the 3 year warranty because the tool looks like it has been "well used", as she put it. Imagine that! God forbid! we use our tools every day, how dare we? Why would we do a thing like that? I told her that I am a home improvement contractor and I use my tools on a daily basis , thus the reason for buying the best tools available, or in this case, I thought Dewalt was the best and built for professionals or at the least they are proud of themselves for being so and advertise themselves as such. I told her that if I was going to put my tools on the shelf in a glass box and dust them off every day as a show piece I would have bought a Black and Decker or some other cheap tool, I paid at least twice as much for my Dewalt set because I thought it is built for everyday use and not a show piece. I also told her that we don't use our sawzalls in a plastic surgery room, we use it to cut nails, wood, metal and so on. Her response to me was, " if the tool looked good and in a new condition, we would honor the 3 year warranty" and it is left to the discretion of her technicians to make that decision. " It is a sawzall for Gods sake ", I told her. We all know that when we use a sawzall for the first time it will get scratches on it. You use it for a month on a day to day basis, it will look like it is " well used" as the Dewalt representative put it. Dewalt should put a warning sign on the box right next to their sneaky, bogus 3 year warranty, something like: WARNING ANY USE OF THIS TOOL WILL VOID WARRANTY, IN ORDER TO USE THE WARRANTY YOU MUST KEEP THE TOOL IN A GLASS CASE ON A WELL BUILT SHELF AND AWAY FROM ALL HARM AND HUMAN CONTACT. I also told her that the 20 max impact gun that came with the same set is also in need of repair because the piece that hold the screw bit popped out and the spring inside it is broke in half. She said if the gun looks like it has been "well used' don't bother sending it because they will not repair it. MY LAST PURCHASE FROM THESE CROOKS, DEWALT. THESE CROOKS STOOKED ME GOOD WITH THEIR "read the small print" type tricky AND BOGUS ADVERTISING. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS NOT RESPONDED TO THIS PROBLEM YET.
