Should have followed other runners advice!!
I want to know why companies feel the need to fix what isn’t broken? Let me say I’m an avid Brooks fan and have been running them for about 4 years. I’m picky about running shoes after back, neck, and knee issues. The Levitate (1st generation) came out and were recommended my pronation and fit desires. They arrived and the extra cushioning was welcomed by the extra 30 pounds of baby weight I was looking to “run off.” I loved my Levitates so much that I wore them much longer than I probably should have putting 15 months of miles on them. My knees started to bother me Tuesday and Thursday (run days) this week and I was wearing holes in them. I scoured the internet looking for a clearance pair of the originals in my size with no luck so I forked our the money for the second generation. I put them on and was not optimistic. They feel nothing like the first generation. Lack of cushioning and the area around my ankle feels weird which worries me I’ll get blisters. I made the mistake of ordering them through amazon (because I wanted to get back to running ASAP) instead of brooks website so I don’t get my 90 day test out period. I’ll go for a run in a minute but I’m not optimistic. Brooks! Bring back the original design! The reviews were overwhelmingly good on these but people complained they didn’t feel the same. Ok, rant is over... until after my first run.
Went for a run. I do HIIT running and within the first round, I could feel the area around the top rubbing in an uncomfortable way. I pushed through my workout but found I could only make it 4.22 miles before blisters had formed! I’ve always worn under Armour no show socks while running and have never had this happen. I will have to buy new socks to keep running in these. Knees felt good but the rest sucked. So disappointed and I can’t return them.
UPDATE: -
Update on my Brooks because I must give kudos where it's due. Road Runner Sports, the Amazon seller, would not honor a return unless I upgraded to their VIP program. So I contacted Brooks customer service directly. They were EXCELLENT and I am reminded why I'm such a huge fan! They are giving me an exchange for my shoes and I'm getting Glycerins which are being sent free of charge. They followed up by telling me to donate my brand new Levitate 2's to a local charity instead of returning them. This is a $150 pair of shoes! Though I am not impressed with the changes of these shoes, I am impressed with their customer service. If you run, for pain or pleasure, I can't recommend this company, Brooks Running enough.
