I'll tell you how to fix these
Bought these for our race team in a pinch and like an idiot didn't test them. Brought to the track, attempted to use during the race, they leaked terribly all weekend. Further inspection showed that the edge of the neck was not flat but angled, therefore the way the cap would go on would never allow it to seal flat. If you try to tighten harder it simply slipped off.
Came back home, emailed VP. They admitted to having received a bad batch, took my info, said a replacement would arrive in a week. Two weeks later, nothing, three weeks later, nothing. Four weeks later I email them again. I get a response another two weeks later, they apologize, indicate they are waiting on replacement to arrive to their warehouse, should be another two weeks. Three months go by, I just about gave up. But why not, email again. A week later the jugs arrive. I inspect them, the edge of the neck seems is about 3 mm thin in the same spot, on both, quality control is clearly lacking. I test them with water, they work. I test with fuel, they leak. Trash, as suspected.
I go into the 'how do I fix this' mode. Go to Home Depot (where else) and find the Everbilt Flush Valve Shank Washer, SKU 1000 055 036, in the toilet repair department for less than $2 a piece. I place this washer gasket on top of the neck, and screw on the cap, it seals perfectly. I test with fuel, no leaks. Problem solved, no thanks to VP.
