I've bought New Skin before at the drug store, but I was out and Amazon was right there on my phone, so I ordered this here. There are a couple of just existing downsides to New Skin, the main one being that exposure to oxygen tend to thicken and yellow the liquid, so that by the time you reach halfway through the bottle it starts to apply and dry yellow which looks nasty. This product, however, started SO THIN it took like 5 coats to even protect my scratches. Being so thin it is also incredibly hard to remove. Now...I should say I am aware you are supposed to remove it by applying more of the product and wiping it off while it's still wet...however it's SO MUCH MORE GRATIFYING to peel the stuff off. Because this stuff is so thin, it doesn't peel off well. I've also found using the recommended removal method still leaves behind an annoying shiny film. I think if I buy it again it will be from the drug store. Also important to note, this stuff STINGS LIKE A SOB. You get used to it, but kids are for sure gonna hate it. Imagine putting nail polish on an open scratch.....this is the exact same feeling. It burns when it touches the scratch and continues to burn and pinch till it's dry which takes several minutes. I would not recommend this product for kids. Basically I recommend this product if you need to water seal you scratches to protect from ambient bacteria while swimming or gardening or getting licked by your dog. I also recommend this product if you are a masochist cause the burn feels pretty nice as low level pain. I also recommend this product if you are a generic weirdo who likes to peel and pick at your skin. I will say, peeling the stuff off of an open wound for sure delays the healing time, but you can always just put it on uninjured skin and pick to your heart's content.
